Lenten Project Print E-mail
Sunday, 17 May 2009
Enterprise Day held on March 13th, raised £348.78 towards the St Teilo’s Parish Lenten project that sought to raise funds for Home-Carers caring for HIV/AIDS Patients in Wasaidizi wa Wagonjwa wa Nyumbani, Nakuru, Kenya East Africa!
Each class had spent the week in teams exploring their talents to see what each could contribute, devising what they could make, and then sourcing materials and making items to sell on the day.
They had to balance their creative ideas with the cost to make the items and the possible sale price that they might achieve. Sir Alan Sugar look to St Teilo’s for your next ‘Apprentice’! Everyone dressed in rainbow colours for the day and the sale of badges, paper flowers, poems, cakes, mothers’ day baskets and handprint cards, smelly candles, beaded bracelets, quiz sheets, handmade posters, hair bobbles, painted clay pots, and many other items was a very exciting occasion. Well done to everyone who took part!

Early Years Assembly Print E-mail
Wednesday, 25 March 2009

Festivals and Celebrations was the theme of the recent Early Years assembly. The children shared their work on different cultures through song, poetry, language, dance and craft. The audience was captivated by the welsh folk dancing and the Chinese dragon snaking it’s way across the hall, this was enhanced by the Welsh and Chinese counting and complimented beautifully by the hearty singing of a dragon! It proved a wonderful celebration of cultural diversity and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The Early Years show parents their Chinese Dragon as they tell them about Festivals and Celebrations throughout the world.

St. Patrick's Day Print E-mail
Tuesday, 24 March 2009
Assembly on March 18th was the perfect time for pupils to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – did you know that the Patron Saint of Ireland was born in Wales?! A Friend of St. David, we were reminded that at the age of 16 years old, robbers kidnapped and enslaved St. Patrick and took him to Ireland to work as a shepherd.  After 6 years he is said to have turned to God in despair and escaped to back Britain. However, legend says that he felt called to help pagan Ireland’s people, studied to become a priest and returned to help the people of Ireland, doing much for their literacy and education.

The winner of Tenby Observer’s Friday Fun colouring competition featuring St Patrick, told pupils that Ireland used to have a dangerous snake problem back in the 5th Century AD, and that St. Patrick prayed to God to banish the snakes.
Friday Fun Winner

Pupils were also treated to an Irish Dancing display to the delight of pupils, teachers and parents.
